The detail worth starting with is the bar. The Islander Fingerboard Barrier, a collaboration between Teak Tuning and Islander Ramps, puts a solid round aluminum coping bar along the top of a PVC body — not a routed wooden lip, not angle iron screwed to a ledge, but a round bar, which is the difference between trucks that catch and trucks that run. Everything else about the piece follows from that choice: a 6 inch long, 2.5 inch wide obstacle standing 2 inches tall, with what the listing calls a smooth, easy transition from bottom to top.
It sold out. Our last read of the product feed on October 13 showed it gone; on October 14 it was buyable again at $14.99, in a single variant the shop lists as Default Title. That is the whole of the commercial story, and it is a small one. The interesting part is who is making it, and out of what.
