That is the question every time a tape drop has artwork on it, and it is a fair one. Tape is the one part of a setup your fingers touch the whole session. If a print sits on top of the texture, you feel it immediately.
Short answer
Zeg Heads says no. In the listing for the Zeg Heads x Slushcult Graphic Fingerboard Tape four-pack, the tape is described as "physically the same as our Zeg tape" with the graphics printed directly onto it in house using UV inks, which the brand says is done "to ensure no quality trade off is seen in performance." That is the maker's claim rather than an independent test, and as of October 10 we had found no published wear comparison. But the important detail is the one to hold onto: this is not a different tape stock with a picture on it, it is the same stock, printed.
