The gear ledger in the post is a decade map. u/fritoshka puts themselves as a Substance and Winkler enthusiast across 2000 to the early 2010s, then an Oak and lab fan. Martin Winkler's wheel brand is still a name people say with reverence; Winkler also started Munich's WeisswurstIssJam street jam in 2006.
What's in the cart now is a different column: FlatFace wheels out of Dracut, Massachusetts, where Mike Schneider's shop has been running since 2003, and Blackriver obstacles. That's the returner's whole experience in one photo — the brands that defined your first run are not automatically the brands defining the setup you build second time around, and the catalogue you memorized in 2008 has moved on without asking.
The Berlinwood with the Winkler graphics is the artifact that survives both eras. Berlinwood has been hand-pressing 5-ply maple in Berlin since 2002, so a deck from the old setup still shares a lineage with what's on the Blackriver shop wall today.
