By October 14, 2027, I expect at least one additional maker or specialist shop — somebody other than Industry FB and Maple Lab — to release or stock a fingerboard truck 40 mm or wider.
That is the whole bet, and it is deliberately cheap to falsify. Not "wide is the future." Not a sales figure I have no way of knowing. One more source for one part. If twelve months pass and the only 40 mm-plus trucks you can buy are still the ones Maple Lab listed on October 1, then the Stinkefingaz batch and the Industry FB run were isolated drops that happened to land in the same fortnight, and I read a coincidence as a trend.
The smart money, I think, is on the second source arriving from a maker already comfortable with small metal work rather than from a deck brand. Trucks are the hard part; whoever solves them decides how wide the scene can go. But I'd also treat a shop stocking somebody else's wide truck as proof — distribution is a bet too, and it is the cheaper one to place.
What would make me more confident before then
- A wheel brand naming extra-wide in a listing, rather than leaving riders to work out the fit.
- A deck maker releasing 40-plus as a repeat width instead of the top rung of a one-off ladder.
- A park builder or obstacle maker talking about scale against a 48 mm deck.
None of those has happened in what we've published. If one does, the twelve-month window starts looking generous.
