A video from MintFB documents a Skatestation fingerboard event featuring Holy Grail, aimed squarely at riders outside driving distance of the Utah shop.
Amara Brooks2 min readA shop session only exists for the people standing around the table — unless somebody brings a camera.
MintFB brought one. The video went up on September 17 under the title Skatestation Fingerboard Shop Event Ft. Holy Grail, and at the time of writing it sits at 1,135 views. It isn't pitched at the people who were already there.
Part 1 of 3
The whole intent is in two lines of description. MintFB writes that Skatestation "continues to put on for the fingerboarding community with such great events," and then explains who the edit is actually for.
That second line is the interesting one. Plenty of event footage is cut as a highlight reel for the people who already know the room — best trick, best clip, roll credits. This is framed as something closer to a walkthrough: here is what one of these looks like, for riders who are never going to be within driving distance of Main Street.
I wanted to share how these events usually go with people who may not be able to visit!
Part 2 of 3
Skatestation is a shop on Main Street in Layton, Utah. Per its own events page, it runs a free fingerboard session on the second Saturday of every month — not a one-off, not a ticketed jam, a standing monthly date that anyone can turn up to.
That cadence is the thing worth noting. Scenes don't get built by the big annual contest; they get built by the room that's open on a predictable Saturday, month after month, long enough that new riders can find it. A shop that commits to twelve of those a year is doing the unglamorous version of the work.
MintFB's title credits Holy Grail alongside the shop.
Part 3 of 3
The Skatestation event video is on MintFB's YouTube channel. It's the only public document of this particular session in the material we have, which is exactly the gap MintFB says the upload is meant to fill.
If the monthly pattern holds, the next second Saturday lands on October 10. The shop's events page is where that gets confirmed; MintFB's channel is where the footage would land after.
