Bootleg Decks puts a Bayamón-made deck on a California shelf

The listing tells us two things about origin: the decks are made by hand, and they are made in Bayamón, Puerto Rico. That is the whole of the provenance the shop page gives.

It does not name the person or people pressing the decks. It does not say when Bootleg Decks started, whether it works from a dedicated shop space or a home setup, or how long it has been selling. This piece works from that listing alone, so those questions stay open here rather than getting filled in with guesses. The brand's own account is where a fuller history should come from.

It is worth being precise about the one date we do have. October 22, 2026 is when this deck appeared at Slushcult. It is a first-seen date for one retail listing, not a founding date, not a registration date, and not proof that this was the brand's first sale anywhere. The archive should record it as exactly that.

Here is everything the listing states about the Logo deck:

• Mold: B02
• Made: by hand in Bayamón, Puerto Rico
• Graphic: a "high quality paper graphic"
• Packaging: shrink wrapped
• In the box: the deck and foam tape
• Colorway: Black
• Price: $36 at Slushcult

The B02 mold is named but not described. The listing gives no width, length, wheelbase, concave or kick measurements, so there is no way to say from the page whether this sits at the narrow end of the usual range or out past 34 mm. It also does not give a ply count or say what wood or veneers go into the layup.

The graphic is paper rather than a printed or engraved finish, by the listing's own description. It doesn't say how the paper is applied or sealed. If you slide and grind on ledges and rails, that bottom graphic is what wears, so how it is finished is a fair question to put to the shop before buying.

Foam tape in the box means the deck goes on a setup as soon as you mount trucks and wheels, with no separate grip to source. Pack it up with your bushings tuned the way you like and it's a session board.

Handmade decks have always been a story about places as much as products. A one-person or small-crew operation presses wood somewhere specific, names its molds, and builds a following outward from there. Bootleg Decks fits that pattern in at least one documented way: a deck pressed by hand in Bayamón is now sitting in the catalog of a US shop that drops new product every Friday and co-presents Fingerboard Con.

That route matters. A shop listing like this one is often how a regional maker's work reaches riders who would never otherwise see it, and it is also, too often, the only part of the record anyone writes down. The name of the mold, the town on the label and the date it went live are the beginnings of a brand history, not the whole of one.

What the Puerto Rican scene around Bootleg looks like, who rides these decks at home, and how the B02 shape came about are the parts of the story still to be told, ideally by the people who made it. Until then, the archive gets an honest entry: Bootleg Decks, Bayamón, Puerto Rico, Logo deck in black on the B02 mold, at Slushcult from October 22, 2026, for $36 on the Slushcult product page.
