On October 18, u/Negative-Spot-1990 posted a single photo to r/Fingerboards under the title DIY Paper deck. The caption is one line long and reads like a parts list: 90 by 31.5mm, low concave, 15ply 120gsm paper. No build thread, no press shots, no claim that it is the first of anything. Just a deck, and the numbers that describe it.
That line is worth sitting with. Fingerboarders quote ply counts the way guitarists quote string gauges — it is the shorthand that tells you what a deck will do before you touch it. Here the count is 15, and the material is not maple, birch or any of the boutique veneers the wood brands trade in. It is 120 gsm paper, the weight of a decent sketchbook sheet, stacked fifteen deep and pressed into a low concave.
