Island scenes run on whoever is willing to haul the obstacles. On October 16 a rider posting as u/ewzr250 put up a short notice on r/Fingerboards: they're hosting a fingerboard jam in Colwood, on Vancouver Island, and they're bringing the setup themselves. The same day, the obstacle maker Olive.fbs posted the flyer on Instagram.
The pitch, in the organizer's words, is that they'll be "providing a bunch of prototype obstacles to sesh as well as some concrete obstacles." That's the whole draw. Prototypes mean surfaces and edges nobody has filmed on yet — the kind of session where you find out within ten minutes whether an edge lets trucks grind through or catches and stops the board dead. Concrete brings its own question: how a board slides on it, and how much wax it wants before anyone's holding a 50-50 to the end of a ledge.
The flyer promises the rest in three words: "Freebies! Prizes! Giveaways!"
You can read the announcement on r/Fingerboards and see the flyer on Instagram.
